Cinco De Mayo is almost upon us and that means margaritas, tacos and of course churros!! I made these Baked Churros with Three Dipping sauces for Cinco De Mayo.
I blame Disneyland for my lifelong love affair with churros. Also growing up in Southern California in a town that has a Mexican Fiesta festival every summer where we would stuff our faces with tacos, street corn and all the churros we could handle all washed down with agua fresca for two weeks straight. Well until old enough to wash it all down with margaritas. Churros seriously are one of the best foods ever invented.
To go along with these crispy, sweet cinnamony baked churros I made three different dipping sauces. A cinnamon milk chocolate, a salted dulce de leche and a spicy chili dark chocolate. All excellent and a must for these churros. Churros on their own are delicious, but for this Cinco De Mayo take them up a few notches with these dipping sauces.
These churros really are easy to make. No deep frying involved which is great for me since I banned myself from frying ever again since the first time I ever attempted churros years ago. It was bad. Pinterest fail bad. So now if I do have a recipe that needs frying my husband gets to be the official fryer. I stick to baking.
