Happy Aloha Friday!! My foodie follow Friday is an amazing one. Many of you know her already,but I’d you don’t, you all need to know her. @alanakysar of the blog Fix, Feast, Flair. 🌺 Alana was born and raised in Hawaii. Her mom is Japanese, her dad is Northern European. Alana is known as “hapa” - half white, half brown. Her mix of cultures are seen in many of her recipes, just like many Hawaiian recipes. A mish-mash of so many cultures that combine to make he most amazing dishes. And she wrote one of the most gorgeous cookbooks I’ve ever owned, The Aloha Kitchen, last year. I’ve made well over half the recipes so far, many multiple times (hello mochiko chicken, mac salad, mochi, shoyu chicken, I could go on). 🌺 Alana is one of the nicest bloggers, she truly has “Aloha Spirit” and her recipes bring me back to all my times spent on Hawaii as a kid to an adult. The photos in her book are stunning, and her words on the history of Hawaiian food as well about her life growing up there are wonderful to read. This book is gorgeous. So is Alana. Some of her recipes from her book- • Shoyu Chicken plate lunch • Ahi Poke • Spam Musubi • Guava and Lilikoi Malasadas • Lilikoi Chiffon Pie • Sweet Potato Haupia Bars And she’s always making this amazing sourdough bread with purple sweet potato!! 🌺 Hawaiian food has so much history, and is a blend of cultures, like Alana, which makes her recipes and her book really stand out. You learn to appreciate her, her cultures and her food even more as you read her book and make her recipes. 🌺 I am giving away a copy of her book. Happy Aloha Friday! I am so excited to share all about one of my newest foodie friends, @christincreativeco today for my Follow Friday. She is AMAZING and if you aren't following her already, you need to! • Christin is located in Atlanta via New York. Her family is originally from the Caribbean - Trinidad and Tobago to be exact. Her island background and culture influence the flavors in many of her recipes. • She has a degree in PR and Marketing and is an amazing stylist and photographer - food, products, lifestyle and travel. She does it all! • She’s had a passion for photography since High school and just started taking photos with her iPhone 3GS. It was mostly of random sceneries and things I ate. I started enjoying food shots more and started to focus more on it. Her parents got her a Canon camera and I've been on this path ever since • Christin's recipes are amazing. As soon as I scrolled her feed when I first discovered her BBQ Shrimp and Grits and had to make them that night for dinner. BEST shrimp and grits recipe I have ever had. You need to make it asap! Everything she makes looks amazing - • Breakfast Sandwich - Bacon, Egg, Cheese on an Everything Bagel •Trinidad Street Food - Pholourie - fried split pea dough balls with spices and a savory chutney (YUM) • Smoked Paprika Scallops with truffle risotto • Maple Stroopwafel Napoleon • Strawberries with coconut cream • Soba noodles with shrimp and baby bok choy • Steak and charred pineapple chutney crostini Just to name a few. I mean. It all looks so amazing. So colorful and fresh. Blackened Cajun Sockeye Salmon with Smoky, Cheddar

I was supposed to be in Cordova, Alaska this week salmon fishing and photographing the gorgeous costal scenery. Away from the Vegas heat. No thanks to Covid-19 I’m still in Vegas. 🥵😂 Fortunately there was a workaround and Alaska came to me! 🏔🐟 This gorgeous @pws.wild.salmon Sockeye Salmon was caught just a couple days before it arrived at my house. It doesn’t get much fresher than that. 🏔🐟 The pristine glacial waters of Prince William Sound provide a perfect home for salmon. The fishery upholds the highest quality standards as well as sustainability. Each fisherman that works with them is a small, independent owned family business. 🏔🐟 Each salmon is handled minimally when caught to ensure maximal freshness. I love when it’s salmon delivery day at my house. 🏔🐟 Stay tuned for my recipe this week with this gorgeous, healthy, wild Sockeye Alaskan Salmon. Happy Aloha Friday! Today’s Follow Friday share is one of my faves - @chicanoeats. Many are already following him, but I think everyone should be. I am currently munching on my version of his ceviche (see second pic, recipe in his cookbook - which I’m giving away a copy of it as well. See bottom of this post) 🌮🌮 Esteban grew up in So Cal like I did. His parents immigrated from Mexico for a better life, better education and healthcare for their family. So many of my Mexican friends growing up had similar stories. Food was a huge part of staying connected to his extended family in Mexico, who he visited often growing up, as well as now sharing it with all of us via his blog and new cookbook. He makes it all from drinks, appetizers, main courses and desserts. It all looks so so so good. 🌮🌮 And it all reminds me of the food I would eat at friends houses for family parties, birthdays, friend’s Quinceañeras etc. I miss GOOD Mexican food living outside of So Cal for some many years now. But with @chicanoeats I have so many amazing recipes to choose from to make me miss it a little less. 🌮🌮 I love his recipes and food photography style. Happy Aloha Friday! Time for another Follow Friday. Sharing my space here every Friday and today is with one of my fave foodie friends @niksnacks. 🍽🍽 Nikki is a food blogger, a @tastecarolina food tour guide, a food writer for @triad_city_beat and her Sangria Saturdays are something I look forward to every week. 🍽🍽 Her recipes and videos are awesome. We share a love of summertime, shorts and pineapple. She is also famous for her Philly Cheesteak Cheesecake. A savory cheesecake with Philly Cheesesteak toppings. I think it’s genius and whenever I see anything “Philly Cheesesteak” themed I think of her. Like when I saw the Philly cheesesteak egg rolls at Trader Joe’s.
