Kahlua Coffee BBQ Sauce

Kahlua Coffee BBQ sauce Makes approx 2 cups of sauce

Ingredients
  

  • ½ c brewed coffee not instant
  • c organic ketchup
  • ½ c plus 2 tablespoon Kahlua
  • 3 large shallots peeled
  • 3 cloves garlic peeled
  • ½ cup dark brown sugar
  • cup sweet chili sauce
  • 1 tablespoon tamari
  • ½ teaspoon ground ginger
  • 2 teaspoon ancho chili powder
  • 1-2 teaspoon sea salt

Instructions
 

  • Place shallots, garlic and 3 tablespoon of the ketchup in a food processor and blend into a paste. Add that mixture along with the rest of the ingredients to a sauce pan and bring to a boil over medium-high heat. Lower heat and simmer 45 min or until reduced by ⅓ and has significantly thickened. Taste and add salt and more spices if desired. Let cool in pan and then transfer to a glass jar and keep refrigerated until ready to use.

Make sure your coffee is a stronger brew, anything mild or weaker brewed won't give as rich of a flavor.
