Mermaid Smoothie (Banana-Mango-Pineapple-Spirulina-Smoothie)

My Mermaid Smoothie is full of vitamins, minerals, super-healthy spirulina, (blue green algae) and several tropical fruits to give you a boost of nutrition to start your day. This delicious smoothie recipe is sponsored by Wolf Gourmet.

Why did I call it a Mermaid Smoothie? Because its blue, green and yellow layers look like the ocean. And they are chock full of goodness from spirulina as well as from banana, mango and pineapple. Totally something a mermaid would drink!

Spirulina is high in protein (a complete protein containing all the amino acids), rich in iron and vitamin A and boasts four times the antioxidants of blueberries. Plus, it turns your drinks and food a nifty shade of blue-green, a color most often achieved by food coloring. I much prefer the natural versions of food coloring. No point in a healthy smoothie with artificial colors added. Mermaids like to stay healthy!

Wolf Gourmet offered to send me one of their blenders to review and one to give away! Amazing, right? I tested it out with several different things in order to put it through its paces. I love the wide base of the blender, how quiet it is despite being so powerful and how easy it is to clean. The fact that it’s wider than my other high-powered blender makes it so much easier to access the bottom when scraping out foods that tend to stick, such as pesto or thick sauces. I also like that the top of the lid has 2 parts so you can take off the top piece, fill with oil, replace the lid and the oil will slowly drizzle in for a perfect emulsion for dressings, mayonnaise or pesto. And it’s great that you don’t have to remove the entire lid and get splattered all over or make a giant mess in your kitchen.

I love the Smoothie setting on this Wolf Gourmet blender. It starts out slow and pulses to help chop up anything big such as frozen bananas or chunks of frozen mango. Then, it quietly picks up speed and blends until smooth. I also love that this blender is super stable and I can walk away from it while it’s blending. I am pretty sure if I didn’t hold on to my other blender it would vibrate right off my counter and that is a mess I never want to clean up.

Another thing I like about the blender is its shorter, wider jar and base. It fits in my lower cabinet in its entirety. It’s not as tall as my other blender. (That one requires me to separate the parts in order to fit it under the shelf.) Although I have yet to keep this Wolf Gourmet blender in my cabinet… it is so shiny and pretty I have kept it out on the counter. I mean I sort of have to… it matches my kitchen perfectly.

So gorgeous in my kitchen. I love matching appliances.

I am thrilled to own this blender and am so grateful that Wolf Gourmet sent to to me to try out. AND I am so excited to have the opportunity to give one away!  The Mermaid Smoothie recipe resides on the Wolf Gourmet blog.  You need to head there to get the recipe.
I also use my blender for sauces such as enchilada sauce, soup bases, dressings, pesto, mayonnaise etc. It is so versatile and we make smoothies almost daily. I am so happy to have this gorgeous Wolf Gourmet blender for all my blending needs.

UPDATE!!!

Giveaway is now over. Congrats to Heidi Henry the winner of the blender. Can’t wait to see what you make!

Thank you again to Wolf Gourmet for sponsoring this post. I have been using my Wolf Gourmet blender every day since I received it and it now stays out on my counter. It is such a pretty appliance there was no way I could store it in a cabinet.

I think that I need to get more creative with my smoothie making because all of these sound so tasty. I don’t really have a recipe when I comes to making smoothies, I love pineapple and strawberries in them, sometimes a banana or a little yogurt.

We love banana, spinach and OJ. And we’re blender broke….having tried every brand from Oster to Vitamix, but never heard of this one. None have been that great because using ice makes that “burning motor” smell. LOL
